FuFu’s
Thread Co., Ltd.
FuFu,
which means “lucky” or “good fortune” in Mandarin, is the manufacturer
of our rayon any polyester embroidery threads.
They have been in business for over 30 years and possess the knowledge
and experience required for producing a high – end embroidery thread.
FuFu
operates two production faculties, one in Taiwan and the other in the
Philippines. All
phases of the manufacturing process are performed in-house to ensure that thread
quality meets AATCC, JIS and European standards.
In
House Production, Quality, and Quality Control
FuFu
produces a high sheen, low tension lubricated embroidery thread that results in
excellent production and magnificent color, adding luster to your finished
garments.
FuFu’s
employees are thoroughly trained on the equipment and internal procedures to
maintain their high level of quality.
Each cone is coded so that a specific date, machine, and operator can be
identified if necessary.
Each
new lot of raw material is inspected and tested to make sure that the quality of
materials going into production meets FuFu’s standards and will result in a
quality product.
The finished product is also carefully examined.
FuFu
uses an internal lab to test random samples of raw materials and finished cones,
for control reasons.
They also contract an independent international lab (Intertak Testing
Lab) to measure the quality of their tensile strength and color fastness.
Supporting documentation can be provided at the request of customers and
prospects.
Cone Design
More
than twenty – five years of experience has taught FuFu that quality thread is
not the only important component of a production – efficient product.
They also consider the design of the cone on which their thread is wound
to be fundamental. FuFu’s threads
are wound on king spools, which have a wide base providing a stable platform for
the cone to rest on. The wide base
also assists to prevent thread from falling off the cone and wrapping around the
thread post, causing thread breaks and loss of production.
FuFu
tapers their cones, from top to bottom, so thread can unwind smoothly from the
cone without rubbing against the sides, resulting in fewer chances of thread
breaks, which increase production and profitability.
Finally
FuFu produces cones, which have “tie-offs” underneath the base of each cone
to facilitate thread storage and to reduce thread loss.
Environmental
Safety
FuFu’s
commitment to quality includes the safety of our customers and our planet.
No environmental harmful products or carcinogens are utilized in the
production of FuFu’s threads.
All water used to dye thread is properly treated to separate dyestuff
from the water used in production.
The inert sandy, grit material which remains is used as a land fill
substance to help fight erosion on the coastal shores of Taiwan and the
Philippines. This
information has proven valuable to some customers who market embroidered goods
to environmentally conscious organizations and companies.

HOW
MUCH TREAD SHOULD I BUY?
Please use the following examples as a guide
on how to estimate your thread consumption.
|
Example
# 1
Customer order = 500 jacket backs
Pattern size = 20,000 stitches
20,000 x 3mm = 60,000mm
60,000 mm / 1,000 mm = 60 meters
60 m x 500 = 30,000 m
30,000 / 5,000 = approximately 6 cones
|
Example #2
Custom order
- 12 left chest logos
Pattern size = 5,000 stitches
5,000 x 3 mm = 15,000 mm
15,000 mm/ 1,000 mm = 15 meters
12 m x 12 = 180 m
180 / 5,000 m = approximately 0.036
cones

Confused
Yet? Let’s simplify just a
little bit.
5,000 m cone = approximately 1,250,000 - 3 mm
stitches
1,000 m cone = approximately 250,000 - 3 mm
stitches
GUIDE
TO SELECTING THE RIGHT NEEDLE
Sharp Point Needle
vs. Ball Point Needle
Sharp
Point Needle:
The commonly used needle is designed to penetrate woven
fabrics with a cutting / puncturing action.
It is best for tight w
eaves, canvas denim, towel, caps, and nylon satin materials.
Ball
Point Needle: (catalog item code = BP)
This most often used needle has a rounded
point. Designed to
rather
than cutting or puncturing the fabric. Ballpoint
needles do less harm to fabrics, but due to their rounded
or “ball” like point they are not always good to use.
Ballpoint needles are intended for sewing fabrics
such as jersey, interlock, or piqué materials,
and knit sweaters.
Titanium
/ Perfect Durability: (catalog
item code = PD)
This needle has a titanium -nitride ceramic
finish, which makes it more wear-resistant, lasting five times longer than
chrome plated needles. Titanium
coated needles are significantly stronger than other needles reducing breakage,
bending, distortion and needle deflection (which causes skipped stitches.)
A thinner size needle can perform the strength of a thicker needle
without larger needle holes. This
needle has helped embroiders with seamed front caps & leather problems.
Common
Needle Sizes:
70/10:
This needle is mainly used for small detail work when curves are
sharp and density is an issue.
75/11:
This needle is used in embroidery machines 75 to 80% of the time.
It is the most universal needle because the diameter is not too big for
embroidery and it offers sufficient needle strength.
80/12:
This needle is used for heavier fabrics, such as denim; it makes a
bigger hole in the fabric while it sews. Another
example of when to use an 80/12 needle is when operators are sewing on caps and
are experiencing many needle breaks. Because
of the larger diameter, this needle is often stronger in these situations.
